Field Trip

We are in full Santa’s workshop mode. Our living room currently looks like this:

Our living room

We aren’t totally pathetic.  Dumpling snuck off from stacking wood yesterday and set up our tiny Christmas tree.  It’s so festive!

The tiny Christmas tree

Mike:  I love the tiny tree!

Molly:  Are you saying you want the tiny tree up every year?

Mike:  Yes.

Molly:  NOOOOOO!!!  How can you crush my soul like that!!

Mike:  It’s tiny, it doesn’t trip me every time I pass by it like our big pee-pee tree does.  I like the tiny tree.

Molly:  You know sometimes I think you purposely say things like that just to chip away at me.

Mike:  Honey, it’s a tree.

Today we just had to get out.  We decided to do an impromptu field trip and go down to Albuquerque.    Yesterday Molly totted Pistol off on an airplane to spend the next two weeks  with her Dad and Step-mom.  Dumpling is with us for a few more days before she goes off with her Mom and Step-dad for a week over Christmas.  Yesterday we bored Dumpling to death by cutting and stacking firewood.  We owed her a ‘fun’ day.

Yes, evil Kitten we want to have fun.  You stay here and hold down the fort with all your endearing hissing.

Mean Kitten

Yeah!  In the car we go!!

Yeah! In the car we go!

Come On Dumpling! Join Us!

Field trips are the best!

Field trips are the BEST!!

OK, getting a little bored…how much longer til we get to Albuquerque?

Hmm...getting a little bored here.

We’re getting close!

The Sandia mountains

Where shall we go first?  Target?  Right, because we don’t have a Target in Santa Fe (yes, we do).  This is Dumpling’s trip she gets to call the shots!

At Target

Right after this picture was taken Dumpling screamed out to a woman who had rolled her eyes as she passed by, “I can’t help it, my parents blog EVERYTHING!”.

And off to the Apple store where we walk around resetting all the iPads to  It’s just something we do.

Not a phone, guys...Molly wishes Apple would do away with this effect:

Just creepy

Hungry!!!  Off to have Vietnamese soup and home again home again!

Heh! I got a similar comment once from Number Two Son, the one whose mouth is wired directly to his brain.

OOH!  I love that- ‘mouth wired directly to his brain’! That’s me in a nutshell.
We are so 2011, creating a new kind of therapy.  One where the child must deal with the issues of the blogging parent!

Looks like fun — our field trips to Abq always include at least an hour in the Mac store too. Pretty pathetic, but lots of fun!

I didn’t do an exact count at the Apple store but it seemed as if there was at least 40 employees working.  It was crazy!

We love field trips too.  We took one on Saturday and found this cool 2nd hand shop in a four story bldg.  The man working there told us back in the day the building was a hotel.  In order to get to the third and fourth floor we had to ride in an elevator that he operated.   You guys look like you had such a great time!

I love a good second hand story.  The one you went to sound fantastic.
Our last stop was at a second hand store called Buffalo Exchange.  I think it’s a west coast chain.
